To succeed in everyday tasks of schools, there is an emerging demand to modernize public education system with cloud, mobile and digital technologies to improve operational efficiency and manage the institution effectively.

Here are some commonly observed school management issues, and how technological solutions can be employed to do things right:. Educational institutions are burdened by cumbersome paperwork and manual processes, and they find it difficult to maintain records on attendancefees, admissionstransport, etc.

Using School Management System, automate academic processes to save time and reduce staff workload. Students no more have to stand for hours in the queue to pay fees. Colleges and Universities are finding hard to achieve admission and enrollment targets. Designing a course curriculum that can adapt to the changing needs of the institution is crucial.

With a Course Management System institutions can accomplish a lot with limited resources. Create and track course-work, assignments, and exam papers in a conducive classroom environment to support the goal of graduating students. Tracking the progress of teachers and evaluating the effectiveness of teachers' work is significant. Teacher evaluation system improves communication and collaboration between evaluators and teachers.

There is apparently no platform to provide seamless communication between students, administrators, staff and teachers. Moreover, increasing student discipline incidents happen as a result of big communication gap between students and teachers.

Web and mobile-based education management system improves communication through instant notifications and alerts via email, SMS and push messages to keep the constituents informed at every step of the journey to build relationship and improve student retention. Schools are finding it difficult to handle tardy students, and solve indiscipline and behavior issues.

Institutions are unable to manage information and there are endless delays in taking decisions based on complete analysis. Dashboard reports and intelligent analytics are useful indicators for educators to examine attendance, assignments, grades, etc.In this post, read about effective ways to address five of the most common classroom management issues for secondary teachers.

Recently, I wrote about three different late work options for use in secondary classrooms. However, when it comes to teaching at the middle or high school level, a handful of additional issues are just as pressing. Teachers need to be confident in their classroom rules and procedures, and students and parents need to be familiar with them on day one in order for the machine to operate smoothly.

The way we begin class sets the tone for the entire period. How can this issue be addressed? Every period, my students know that they need to have their books open and already be reading them when the bell sounds.

To encourage this behavior, I model it. I sit on my chair at the front of the room, greet students as they enter, and let them observe me reading my novel. Sometimes I take my novel to the door and read as students enter, a visual reminder of what they should be doing immediately.

As an extra incentive, I also give students a one-point participation grade each day. You can easily track these points. During the last two minutes of my daily independent reading, I quickly use a checklist to record everyone who earned a point for the day. Think about it.

Each nine weeks, I give my students five restroom passes. I just explain that they have five times during that nine weeks that they can miss my class to tinkle without penalty. In order to document their usage of the passes, I have a chart on a clipboard by the door.

Each time a student uses the bathroom, they write the date next to their name on the chart. But, this approach does minimize the number of times students leave during my class. If you have no restroom policy whatsoever, high school students figure that out, and they purposely plan their bathroom break for your period.

In the rare case that a student needs to use the restroom more than those five times, I call their parents and discuss the issue with them. It usually only takes one of these discussions to remedy the issue. For that reason, this is often the issue that frustrates educators the most. Also, sometimes offering students different choices of what they can work on during lectures helps to engage more learners.

The last thing you want to do at the beginning of class is have a line of five students waiting to collect absent work as they watch you running around, trying to find stacks that are missing or buried, or realizing you ran out of copies of the worksheet they need.

All this while the rest of the class sits and socializes. Ultimately, it comes down to your organizational strengths and tendencies as a teacher.

Two approaches have been the most successful for me. Secondary teachers witness a lot of drama. Fights, breakups, gossiping, family tension — teenagers have difficulty focusing in class because of issues like these. Often, they ask to go see their counselor, the principal, or a favorite teacher when they are upset. Other times, they ask to call their parents or go see the nurse. I also frequently have students ask to return a book to the library during English class. Whatever the request, students are always wanting to see support staff during class time.

As educators, we have to make our expectations clear at the beginning of the year as with any rule. I tell my students the best time to visit support staff is before school, during study hall, or after school.

Still, they ask. When they do, I encourage them to wait until a more opportune time. Does that work? However, teachers should definitely call parents if the scenario becomes routine or chronic.Few would argue that the state of our education system has plenty of room for improvement. However, developing a plan to take schools in the right direction is easier said than done.

The first challenge lies in identifying underlying problems keeping students from learning today. This challenge, in part, is due to the fact that the problems may change considerably depending on who is labeling them, whether it is students, parents, educators or lawmakers.

Consider this list of 10 major challenges currently facing public schools, based on the perspective of many involved in the world of education today. Many areas of the country are facing classrooms that are literally busting out at the seams.

A report at NEA Today two years ago discussed how schools in Georgia, in the midst of major funding cuts for schools, had no choice but to lift all class size limits to accommodate students with the faculty the school system could still afford to keep. More recently, Fairfax County in Virginia has been looking into a proposal to increase classroom sizes in the face of significant budget cuts.

The Board of Education in South Carolina is also weighing their options in this area. When money gets tight, classroom numbers are often impacted.

Yet, most teachers agree that they cannot effectively teach every student in a classroom, if the class size exceeds about Their statements are backed up by research. Class Size Matters cites a study performed by the Tennessee Star that found classes of students in grades K-3 provided both long and short-term benefits to both the students and the teachers in those classrooms.

Minority students, those living in poverty and male students appeared to benefit from smaller classroom sizes the most. Technorati reported last fall that 22 percent of the children in the U. American Graduate also cites a report from the Southern Education Foundation, which shows in 17 states across the U. Students living at or below poverty level tend to have the highest dropout rates. Studies show that students who do not get enough food or sleep are less likely to perform at their full academic potential.

Schools know these truths first-hand, and despite efforts to provide students with basic essentials, teachers, administrators and lawmakers know there is simply not enough to go around. Divorcesingle parents, poverty, violence and many other issues are all challenges a student brings to school every day. While some teachers and administrators try to work with children in less than ideal family environments, they can only do so much — especially when parents are often not willing to partner with the schools to provide for the children.Registration of students Enrollment and admission Managing courses Evaluating teachers Collaboration and communication Managing classrooms Monitoring students Managing revenues Academic achievement One of the biggest issues that school administrators face all around the world is the huge number of paper-based processes that are integral to their very existence.

In most cases, it is common to see schools being immensely burdened by the huge amount of manual process and paperwork that they have to undertake on a regular basis.

The issue with the manual registration of students is that they have to waste precious hours standing in queues in order to pay fees and do other important works that have to be done in order for a school to function properly.

The same goes for school staff, a lot of whom have to be engaged in such work so that it could be done smoothly, thus wasting the precious resource. Schools find it really hard to achieve the targets they set with regards to areas such as enrollment and admission. The major reason for this is the fact that they are unable to marry processes with technology.

This is also a major area of problem for school administrators. It is very important for schools to come up with a curriculum that can adapt to the requirements of the institution that may always be changing.

An important part of operating a school is keeping a track of how well the teachers are doing and evaluating how effective they are being in their work. With proper evaluation of teachers, a school can improve to a significant extent as well. Most schools suffer these days because there is no platform good enough to help the various stakeholders such as students, staff, administrators, and teachers communicate properly.

One major effect of this can be seen in the disciplinary issues that keep cropping up in schools between teachers and schools. A school can find it very difficult to take proper care of students who are tardy themselves. These are students who contribute to a whole lot of behavioural issues and are undisciplined as well. Their incompetence and noncooperation can also affect the classroom environments in a bad way.

Teachers and school administrators alike can find it really hard to take care of various activities of the students like their attendance, discipline, leave, and assignments to name a few. The main reason for this is the absence of sufficient monitoring tools that are premised on results.

School administrators can also find it rather difficult to deal with their finances. The main problem that they face in this regard is in keeping a proper track of the various contributions and fee collections that are coming their way. They definitely need to find systems that can help them perform such work in a seamless manner. School administrators also face issues in areas such as managing information and this means there is a delay in information coming to them. It is this seemingly never-ending sequence of delays that make it really tough for schools to analyze these situations properly and take decisions that could lead to improvement.
